Philip is a licensed Professional Counselor with a Master of Science degree in Counseling from Northwest Nazarene University. Philip graduated in 2012 and shortly after worked at Copper Creek Counseling for a few years. He has recently returned to Copper Creek and is excited to be back working with clients. He enjoys working with adolescents, as well as adults, couples, and families. Philip also works with populations in the area of trauma, loss and grief. Philip retired from law enforcement and understands how rewarding being a first responder can be, but also how that line of work can impact a person’s life in so many ways and at varying levels. During his time in law enforcement Philip was a member of the International Critical Incident Stress Foundation and was part of the development of a Peer Support Team. Philip has also worked in an Alternative High School setting experiencing such a rewarding role getting to know the teenage population, and assisting the students reach their potential through compassion, support, understanding, and accountability. Philip understands the importance of connection between the client and counselor and how building a positive working relationship sets the stage for success throughout the therapeutic process.
Philip was born and raised in the Treasure Valley. He remembers the days when there was mostly farm ground between Nampa and Boise and a two-way stop sign on Eagle and Fairview. As a kid he and his family would ride their horses from east Nampa to Meridian for a milkshake from the Hungry Onion drive-in. Philip enjoys anything that involves the outdoors - biking, hiking, camping, fishing, kayaking, roadtrips, etc. He enjoys spending time with family and friends, and of course his two dogs - Bailey and Klua. He is a National Board Certified Counselor and a member of the American Counseling Association.
