Kyle Hackett - Intern

Kyle is currently pursuing his master’s degree in clinical mental health counseling. He is a

third-year graduate student at the Townsend Institute for Leadership and Counseling at

Concordia University Irvine. With a background as a military firefighter and EMT, Kyle has

experience helping individuals in their greatest times of need with compassion and empathy.

He is passionate about helping instill hope in others and supporting them through life's many

challenges.

His approach to counseling continues to take shape through his training but is a blend of

therapeutic approaches (Person-Centered, Psychodynamic, & Humanistic theories) that

focus on the therapeutic relationship. Emphasizing openness, trust, vulnerability, and

acceptance in a non-judgmental, safe, and caring environment is key to addressing core

issues beneath the symptoms, leading to lasting healing and personal growth. He cares

deeply for clients and believes the therapeutic relationship built in counseling, while

professional in nature, is a key element in counseling. Some of his goals in therapy are to

assist clients in growing relationally and in helping decrease symptoms in order to have a

more enjoyable life.

About Kyle

Kyle is married to his high school sweetheart and together they have two amazing young

adult kids. In addition, their family includes two labradors, Winnifred (black lab) & Mabel

(chocolate lab) who are admittedly spoiled. Outside of his professional life, Kyle enjoys

spending quality time with his family. Kyle has extensive experience with life transitions from

his time serving in the military and moving all over the country and the world. Kyle moved to

Boise in 2021 and he and his family are excited to finally plant some roots here in the

Treasure Valley. He has a love for the outdoors, a good suspenseful movie, and Mexican

food.
