Joanna Hancock, LPC - Therapist

Joanna is a Licensed Professional Counselor who recently graduated with a master’s degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Gonzaga University. She retains a passion for working with student populations, as well as adults and couples, and is dedicated to fostering healthy and impactful therapeutic relationships with her clients. Joanna’s approach to counseling is Person-Centered in nature, highlighting the importance of attachment and emotional learning in the change process. She aims to foster a collaborative environment in which clients may explore, reckon with, and adapt patterns of emotion, thought, and behavior to promote a more compassionate and realistic sense of self.

Joanna is a LGBTQIA+ affirming counselor, and believes that the quality of the therapeutic relationship is the main catalyst for change. She strives to develop secure and empathetic bonds with her clients to provide the framework for navigating life’s inevitable challenges, holding space for clients to develop awareness and try on new approaches to obstacles. Joanna recognizes how vulnerable it can feel to even come to counseling in the first place, and seeks to celebrate her clients for each step they take in their growth journey, underlining and drawing upon the unique and empowering qualities that each person brings with them to the counseling space.

About Joanna

A Boise native, Joanna spent time in the Midwest and Washington for school before coming home. Outside of work, you can find Joanna curled up with her orange tabby (Truckie), tearing through novels, trying out fascinating new foods, or lounging in her backyard with friends and family. If asked, she will deny that she misses Minnesota winters, although there is something charming about a fresh foot of snow.
