Samantha Robinson - Intern

Samantha (Sami) is a third-year graduate student in the Masters of Counselor Education program

at Boise State University. Sami earned her bachelor’s degree in psychology from Boise State in

2024. After taking a psychology class in high school, she became fascinated with counseling.

This fascination led to an appreciation of the power of the therapeutic relationship. Sami believes

that feeling fully listened to and understood is the first step in helping people grow. Also, she has

always been interested in how experiences shape our worldviews, values, and perceptions.

As an intern counselor, Sami is still shaping her theoretical approach. Sami’s approach utilizes

many principles from Adlerian Therapy. With a focus on goal-oriented behavior, important life

tasks, and style of living, Adlerian Therapy can help clients address several different goals. Sami

also utilizes principles from Existential Therapy and Person-Centered Therapy to address clients’

congruency with their personal values and life fulfillment.

About Sami

Sami moved to Boise in 2016 with her family after moving around for most of her childhood.

For college, Sami decided to stay in Boise as she felt like she needed more time to explore Boise

and Idaho’s beautiful wilderness. When she is not working towards her degree, you can find her

reading a good book, hiking in the foothills, trying out a new recipe, or spending time with her

family and friends.
